At a good 50 metres, the passenger cabin of the Lufthansa Airbus A380 is as long as the Ferris wheel at Munich’s Oktoberfest is tall. In good visibility you will have the best view from high up out of the aircraft window of the Ferris wheel, the marquees and stalls, the carousels and the lights. And of the many people from all corners of the world who come back year after year to this friendly Bavarian beer festival. More than 100 whole oxen are roasted and more than half a million roast chicken consumed. And all that in ‘Dirndl’ or ‘Lederhosen’, with a ‘Maß’ beer in hand and a gingerbread heart tied around your neck.
In September and October passengers in Business Class on flights from Germany will enjoy a proper Oktoberfest treat! With hearty Bavarian specialities such as ‘Landjäger’ and ‘Radi’ (smoked, cured sausage and radish), ‘Forelle’ and ‘Tafelspitz’ (trout and boiled rump of beef), ‘Obatzda’ (a spicy cheese spread) and ‘Knödel mit Schwammerln’ (dumplings with mushrooms).
“Cheers - O’zapft is!”
Channel 30 of the in-flight entertainment programme will set the appropriate musical mood. To mark Oktoberfest, passengers will receive their amenity kit in a Lufthansa felt bag — which will make an excellent little purse to go with a Dirndl dress later.
